Sights
Two famous artists born in Siófok meet in a special way in this work of art. The characteristic bronze and chrome steel sculpture depicts Imre Kálmán the king of operetta.
Imre Kálmán was born on October 24th, 1882 in Siófok. His most popular works are the Autumn Manoeuvres, The Gypsy Band Leader, The Csárdás Princess, The bajadér, Marica countess, The Circus Princess and A kiss in Spring.
Imre Varga sculptor depicts Imre Kálmán as a friendly, quiet old man sitting in his armchair. The sculpture is showed in an interior like setting while its placement makes everyone feel homey and cozy in the Music Pavilion. Visitors may feel like the guests of the composer after stepping into the room of Imre Kálmán.
The sculpture was inaugurated on May 17th, 1997.
